The goddess of victory—a masterpiece of Hellenistic sculpture from the 2nd century BCE. Almost nine feet tall, the goddess is pictured here on a plinth in the town square of Pietrasanta, not far from our studio. The original statue is in the Louvre.
Behind the figure rise the foothills of the Apuan Alps, the range that hosts the nearby marble quarries of Carrara, which produced the stone we carved the Nike from.
